Position Summary
GSD Outsource is seeking a detail-oriented Virtual Health Assistant (VHA) – Medical Transcription to accurately transcribe physician dictations, patient encounters, and clinical documentation into electronic medical records (EMRs). The ideal candidate has excellent English language skills, strong medical terminology knowledge, outstanding typing accuracy, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
This role is ideal for professionals who enjoy supporting healthcare providers through accurate documentation while working remotely in a fast-paced medical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe physician dictations, patient visits, consultations, procedures, and medical reports accurately and efficiently.
- Review and edit clinical documentation for grammar, spelling, formatting, and completeness.
- Enter documentation into various EMR/EHR systems while maintaining accuracy.
- Ensure all patient information remains confidential and HIPAA compliant.
- Identify inconsistencies or missing information and communicate with providers when clarification is needed.
- Maintain turnaround times while meeting quality standards.
- Organize and prioritize multiple transcription assignments.
- Follow client-specific documentation guidelines and workflows.
- Assist with chart preparation and document management when needed.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative teams to support efficient clinical operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate's degree or certification in Medical Transcription, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience as a Medical Transcriptionist, Medical Scribe, Virtual Health Assistant, or Healthcare Administrative Assistant preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, pharmacology, and clinical documentation.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems preferred.
- Excellent English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and proofreading skills.
- Typing speed of 60+ WPM with high accuracy preferred.
- Strong listening comprehension and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Experience
- Medical transcription experience across multiple specialties.
- Experience with EMR platforms such as Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Practice Fusion, DrChrono, ModMed, or similar systems.
- HIPAA compliance training.
- Experience supporting U.S.-based healthcare providers.
